The McDowell team were great to deal with through what I anticipated would be an extremely stressful process since it began as a fact finding mission and developed into (what we considered substantial building works). Patrick explained each finding as we went and gave us options as to what we could do, understanding budget constraints etc. The team as a whole were extremely considerate, professional, trustworthy, kind and knowledgeable. I felt very comfortable that we were being well looked after and confident that if I had a question it would be explained in a way I could understand. Even coming home to a worksite it was always left clean and tidy. I am grateful to Patrick and his team and would happily work alongside them for any other works needed at home and would highly recommend to others.
We recently had a pergola extension completed by Pat at McDowell Building and Construction, and we couldn't be happier with the result. From the initial consultation through to the final touches, Pat and his team were professional, punctual, and a pleasure to deal with. The craftsmanship is top-notch, the structure is solid, beautifully finished, and perfectly integrated with the existing space. It's clear the team takes pride in their work, and their attention to detail really shows. Communication was excellent throughout, and the project was completed on time and on budget. Patrick and his team were a dream to work with! They have an incredible eye for detail and ensure the final product is of the highest quality. We could not fault their communication, we knew exactly what was happening each step of the way and why it was being done. The bathroom they did for is exactly what we wanted, we're so happy with the final result! They will be my first port of call for any future projects without a doubt.
We would HIGHLY recommend Patrick and the team. Right from the first meeting through to hand over, they were great communicators, amazing workmanship and provided much needed guidance during 2 projects now. We also enjoy the regular banter with the broader team! A must to call before you build!
It's kinda scary doing a bathroom renovation and this is the first major renovation we did. Patrick and his team were amazing! They took all the stress, fuss, and hassle out of the job. They were super thorough with everything, from initial contact, to contracts, onsite communication, and their entire process was flawless; ensuring the boss was checking all progress and every job was done to a super high quality. We were able to choose and purchase our own fixings and finishings (although they offer this service as well), and they offered us good advice, good suggestions, and McDowell Building held everyone they worked with to their same high standards. We received all our certificates in both hard copy and digital format, and I loved watching the team post our build updates on their Instagram. The team were timely and professional throughout and even gave us a beautiful hamper at the end. We would highly recommend Patrick and his team and will 100% be using them in future.
I had a fantastic experience working with Patrick and Costa. From start to finish, they were reliable, professional and communicative. Costa always let me know exactly when he was coming, what stage the works were at, and what to expect next. Costa identified the root cause of long-term water ingress issues at my property and provided a comprehensive solution — not just a patch-up job. The repairs included major structural and waterproofing work to the balcony, and internal repairs to address the damage caused by water ingress. Everything was done with great care and attention to detail.
I can't recommend Mcdowell Building and Construction more highly. Incredibly efficient, unbelievable attention to detail and just such a great experience from start to finish. Patrick built my terrace house from the ground up. This was a really tricky process as the house was over 120 years old and heritage listed with two shared neighbouring walls and no access. However this didn't stop Mcdowell Building from finishing every room and detail exactly as we wanted. We couldn’t be happier with the final result. Great communicator and just so reliable. Six stars!!!!
We recently engaged Patrick, Costa, and their team to help with an unexpected house issue, and they were absolutely fantastic to work with. From the outset, they guided us through a stressful situation with clarity and confidence. They tailored their approach to suit our specific needs and completed the work to a high standard without cutting corners.
